Terms of Service

Last Updated: June 3, 2026

By accessing the VakilSOS website, web assistant or WhatsApp assistant (collectively, the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. They are governed by Indian law and read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. Nature of the Service

VakilSOS is a legal information and complaint-drafting tool for India. It maps your free-text description to the correct statute (IPC / BNS, IT Act, POSH Act, Consumer Protection Act 2019, MV Act, Model Tenancy Act, Payment of Wages Act, UGC Regulations, RBI Fair Practices, etc.) and produces a structured legal response and a draft complaint.

  • VakilSOS does not provide legal advice and is not a substitute for an advocate enrolled under the Advocates Act, 1961.
  • Use of the Service does not create an attorney-client relationship.
  • Drafts are templates — you must verify them before signing or filing.

2. Scope & Limitations

  • The Service is built for the laws of India only and assumes the user is in India.
  • Outputs are general in nature and may not account for state-level rules, latest amendments, or fact-specific nuances.
  • Information is sourced from public Indian statutes, official portals and reputable legal commentary; we make best efforts to keep it current.

4. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide truthful and accurate information; filing a false complaint is itself an offence under IPC 182 / 211
  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes
  • Not attempt to overload, scrape, reverse-engineer, jailbreak or otherwise misuse the Service
  • Not impersonate anyone or submit content that is defamatory, obscene or unlawful

5. Not an Emergency Service

VakilSOS is not a substitute for emergency services. If you are in immediate danger, always call 112 (Pan-India Emergency), 1091 (Women Helpline), 1098 (Child Helpline) or 1930 (Cyber Financial Fraud) before anything else.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, code, design, prompts, classifiers, templates and the VakilSOS brand are owned by us. Citations to statutes belong to the public domain. You may use the generated complaint drafts personally and freely; you may not resell, repackage or redistribute the Service or its outputs commercially without written consent.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service may rely on third parties — including WhatsApp (Meta Platforms), cloud hosting providers and AI classifiers. We are not responsible for outages, policy changes or actions of those third parties.

8. Verified Advocate Network

Where you opt in to be connected with a verified advocate, that engagement is strictly between you and the advocate, governed by their own terms, fee structure and Bar Council ethics. VakilSOS is not a party to that engagement and does not guarantee any outcome.

9. Service Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free operation. The Service may be modified, suspended or discontinued at any time without notice.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to applicable consumer law, courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to the Service.

12. Contact

By using VakilSOS, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms of Service.
